Name that plant

Eight questions. The name, sun, water, a neighbour in the bed, and the job that belongs to this month.

What the quiz draws on

Tomato wants full sun, at least six hours a day, and water at the roots rather than on the leaves. Basil is a good neighbour. Potatoes are not.

Lettuce takes partial shade and steady moisture. In the midday heat of summer it bolts.

Winter garlic is planted in October, clove by clove. The month in the quiz is always the current one, so in January it asks about January.

Are the questions always the same?

No. Each round draws different plants. Tomato might come up three times, or not at all.

Where does the right answer come from?

The name and the Latin name come from the catalogue. Sun, water and neighbours come from the plant card. The month's job comes from the seasonal calendar.
