Cauliflower
Brassica oleracea var. botrytis
🥕 VegetablesCauliflower (Brassica oleracea var. botrytis) is one of the more demanding brassicas — it only rewards you when it gets steady moisture and plenty of nutrients; as soon as it suffers drought, it forms nothing but small curds. Early varieties are started indoors from February, while summer and autumn ones are planted out in succession until August. To keep the curd snow-white, snap a leaf over it as cover. Netting helps against cabbage white butterflies. Like all brassicas it needs limed soil and a four-year break after other crucifers.
